Smoky Flavor Overrules

Give your palette something to savor with this smoky adaptation to your favorite Roots Mix Bloody Mary. Those who like bold, smoky flavors, this variation could be your new favorite. Try a Smoky Bloody Mary by the pool or fire side in late fall. The smoke flavor is versatile for any time of year.

Don't have a smoker? You can also throw your ingredients on the grill at the same time as your steak dinner. The depth of flavor the smoked garnishes add will keep this drink on your top go-to drinks all year.

Other pairings for your Smoky Bloody Mary include a grilled fruit salad (pineapple, bananas, strawberries, oranges and kiwi), bacon, or a pizza. Use the Roots Mix in sauces for ribs to marry the flavor of the bloody with the sauced ribs. We also have more ideas on using this versatile spice mix.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups tomato juice
  • 2 cups vodka (premium is best)
  • 1 oz. liquid smoke
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons Roots Spice Blend Mix

Garnishes:

  • 1 smoked lemon, quartered
  • 1 smoked lime, quartered
  • 1 jalapeno pepper
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Applewood smoked bacon
  • Olives
  • Pickled onions

Combine all ingredients, mix well and store refrigerated in an airtight container until ready to use. The liquid smoke could meld into other permeable containers and porous food so be sure to keep a tight lid on your bloody mix.
