Fresh Squeezed Garden-Ripe Tomatoes

There are few things better than a fresh, garden-ripe tomato during the long summer days. We've taken these delightful little gems and turned the fruitful harvest into a glorious summer cocktail.

For this refreshing recipe, make sure you use the freshest, garden-ripe tomatoes, as it makes a difference in the texture and final flavor of your drink. If you include vodka, make sure to include a stir stick or celery as the vodka and tomatoes tend to separate.

Ingredients:

  • Garden-ripe tomatoes (8-12 ounces)
  • 1/2 of a lime, juiced
  • 1 tbsp Roots Spice Blend
  • Celery salt
  • Cumin
  • 4 oz. Vodka

Garnishes:

  • Lime wedges
  • Baby chili peppers
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Cocktail onions
  • Celery stalks

Juice the tomatoes and add the lime juice to a pitcher or bowl. Mix in the hot sauce, vodka and Roots Spice Blend with the tomato juice. Rim your glasses by wetting with the lime wedges and dipping into celery salt and cumin that has been mixed on a small plate. Divide the bloody mary mixture into two glasses, and garnish with more delicious little cherry tomatoes, lime wedges or baby peppers.

An excellent way to use those home-grown vegetables and sure to impress any neighbor or friend on a summer evening (or any time of year!)
